0.Blok

We have been talking about it for almost a decade, finally establishing 0.blok in Seattle in 2021 as a collaborative design, strategy, and architecture collective. Over these years, we have kept coming back to the idea of democratizing our work and the practice of architecture and design. We understand this as a radical act of connecting with those who are typically underrepresented and their social, economic, and environmental ecosystem. Design and architecture do not exist in a bubble; they are not neutral and therefore cannot pick and choose what issues to take on. They are fields that literally imagine, build, and in most cases, perpetuate our collective reality. We must be all in, or not at all. Given that we have just started our practice, it feels strange to make grand statements about one’s work or even our aspirations. On the other hand, we can also look at it as a way to force our hand, make our thoughts and intentions public and keep us accountable. Time will tell.
