18 Degrees

18 Degrees is an architectural lighting design studio in London with a focus on sustainability and circularity. We design lighting for workplaces, hospitality, retail and residential projects, combining technical rigour with creative thinking to reduce environmental impact while creating spaces people want to be in. In 2024, we launched 18 Circular to tackle Cat A lighting waste. The problem: light fittings are removed in the UK every week, most barely switched on, contributing tonnes of CO₂ annually. Our solution: track-based lighting that's leased, maintained, and redeployed across multiple projects. Elliott Wood validated this approach achieves 89% embodied carbon reduction vs business-as-usual. Our team brings together expertise in architecture, engineering, theatre and the arts, underpinned by postgraduate training in lighting design. We work collaboratively with architects, developers, MEP consultants and contractors.
