28 Magazine

28 Magazine: a literary and cultural publication in Arabic, managed and edited by a group of young Palestinian writers from Gaza and abroad, addressing different cultural issues. The 28 refers to the number of letters in the Arabic alphabet, and Evoque’s the aspiration of the magazine to participate in the knowledge-building of young writers and creators, offering them a cultural base, and supporting their creative projects. Young artists and writers are encouraged to display their creativity and express themselves freely, without any censorship from any authority, in order to promote the values of freedom and democracy. The platform also actively participates in Palestinian and Arab society, through printed and/or electronic magazines, a series of events that include literary evenings, panel discussions, exhibitions, concerts, art-making sessions, and film screenings, organized by the team at the headquarters of 28 (Gallery) magazine, in cooperation with local and international institutions and the civil society. 28 Magazine arose as a needed space, especially after the political and cultural siege - imposed by Israel on the Gaza Strip, since 2007.
