Winner of the Good Design Award Australia 2020 for GOHARD/SOFT Series: High Performance surfboard/surf-life saving craft fins with a soft outer skin. Designed to be a safer option for sports at all levels of performance. Founder Courtney Potter always had his mind set to design a top of the line surfboard fin that would rip through waves with MORE SPEED and MORE DRIVE. Courtney knew his dimple technology discovery had potential, so decided to station himself to start his business in Burleigh Heads, one of Australia’s surfing capital, where he currently continues to evolve and shape his brand. The Dimple Technology™ invention is derived from the golf ball dimple. The dimpled surface both share the same physics behind how air and water flow. Based on hydrodynamics, the dimple surface reduces drag and it improves lift. Now, this concept is all accurate with golf ball physics and is logical in the sport of golf. However, Courtney successfully proved that incorporating that science to his fin design allowed surfers to ride with better control, and with more speed and more drive. Genius! The Gold Coast has proven to be the prime location for research & development for new and innovative fin designs. Courtney often experiments with his prototypes where he produces fins with various materials to discover a more unique composition. His motivation is to produce fins that are more durable, safe and produced ethnically and sustainably where possible. Most importantly, the prototypes are trialled and tested by his team of exceptional athletes where the fins are put through all kinds of conditions; from 1ft beach breaks to 40ft beasts and monster slabs. By doing so, the surfing community now recognises the benefits of Courtney’s masterpiece and many are now able to further out rival their rides with more speed and more drive.
