A New Dawn is a socially-conscious venture whose purpose is to help those going through loss so they can transition through their grieving process in a more loving and healing way, finding support through the power of a compassionate community. The focus is on POSITIVITY; Laughter as Medicine, the Joy in being Alive, the Rewards of Giving and the Healing POWER that can be found a Loving Community. A New Dawn launched in 2016 and is named in honor of our founder, Dawn Jiosi’s courageous and transformative journey. Eight year ago, Dawn lost her loving husband in a tragic accident that left her devastated and having to raise two young children as a single mom. Two years after, she was presented with an interesting opportunity; she was asked by author, Becky Aikman, to be part of an experiment that turned into a best-selling book, “Saturday Night Widows” which received great media coverage on CBS morning show and the Katie (Couric) show. The experience changed all of the women in profound and positive ways. Reinvigorated, Dawn decided to build a platform dedicated to helping others who want a new beginning, offering support and new, more positive ways for others to handle losses of their own – with the simple but powerful mantra: Share. Heal. Love. The plan is to build a support system with a resource–rich website, inspirational documentary, books, live events, seminars, Camps for adults and the guidance and support for people to start their own intimate groups locally. Through product sales, including the development of a one-of-a-kind app, the business will fund itself whilst also doing good in the community. • There are 13.6 million widows in the US. 11 million+ are women, • 700K women lose their husbands/year and will be widows for avg. of 14 years • Death of a spouse is ranked as the #1 Stressor:(Holmes and Rahe stress scale) • Widowhood increases survivors’ risk of dying.
