A1 Capital is a private equity fund based in South Africa and the UK. It has operational and investment expertise in private higher education, Edtech, Property, entertainment and retail. Founded in 2008, it is an accredited wholly black-empowered fund. Since inception, A1 Capital has a proven track record of being able to identify and turn around distressed investments into positive assets that are competitive and generate positive yields. The fund operates as a value-added business, where it builds and develops the human capital network within an organisation before exiting. In 2008, A1 Capital acquired Educor Holdings, a leading supplier of private education, from JSE-listed Naspers. Although the company was at a loss, the fund assisted with their turnaround strategy and Educor Holdings now operates as a profitable, sustainable investment. As part of our global expansion initiatives, in 2015 we acquired London College of International Business Studies. A London based college, we have now established broad footprint across multiple locations in Africa. Today, A1 Capital is fully invested in South Africa, Africa and the UK and continues to build a strong investor portfolio within the global landscape. To date, the fund has built a resume of successful long-term investments and anticipates identifying future opportunities. Its aim is to forge strong business partnerships and revolutionise the landscape of investments into Africa.
