Aamad- Performing Arts & Wellness

Aamad is a full-time dance, martial-arts and yoga studio, aiming to create a retreat where art enthusiasts can interact; and promote a culture to appreciate performing arts. Aamad, from the Persian word meaning ‘entry’; the first introduction of spoken rhythmic pattern or bol into a KATHAK performance; the dramatic entrance of the dancer on stage. The Aamad corresponds somewhat to the ‘alaap’ in Indian Music, in that it establishes the atmosphere. Founded by Ishita Sharma a well known actor, trained Kathak dancer and performer the school aims at promoting the knowledge, understanding & practice of Indian and International dance as well as martial-art forms,(including other fitness modules that help achieving mastery in these complex performing arts) as a reflective, innovative & individual approach to teaching, learning and making art. Its key initiative is to promote the pure and authentic forms of performing arts and help build holistic development of the individuals. Thus, in order to encourage the propagation of performing arts in the city, we wish to encourage the young and old, the serious students looking to build a career in dance, as well as those just looking for an alternate fitness regime. Our school carries on in recognition that performing arts in their pure-form are sacred and require unusual level of energy, commitment and dedication to excel in it. At Aamad, we have handpicked world class trainers who excel in their individual art forms and are equally passionate about imparting their skill and knowledge to potential performers and train them to rise and shine in the world of performing arts!
