Aarhus For Solidarity

Aarhus for Solidarity’s work focuses on asylum seekers in Danish deportation and asylum centers. Our organization has two main goals: fostering solidarity towards refugees and spreading awareness about migration. First, we support rejected asylum seekers in Denmark by creating activities with them inside and outside asylum and deportation camps, in particular in Kærshovedgård Deportation Center. We want to establish genuine human connections with people excluded by society regardless of their status. We wish to support them in their everyday life and satisfy a basic human need for interaction. Secondly, we aim to be a platform for discussion of social issues, to expose the local population to the problems asylum seekers have to face. We actively participate in demonstrations, lectures and presentations which aim to support asylum seekers in Aarhus and in the rest of Denmark. In the last five years, our team of volunteers from all over the world has been carrying out activities based on 4 key values: independence, humanity, impartiality as well as privacy and confidentiality.
