Abdb Designs

The expression, ‘au bout du bois’ means literally ‘the end of the wood’, the crosscut of a branch which shows the grain, also referred to as ‘end-grain’ or in French, ‘bois de bout’. ABDB Designs, founded in 2016 by French-born designer Djivan Schapira, is a multidisciplinary lab known for designing and hand-crafting innovative contemporary furniture and interior decor. Our Patent Pending process of creating eye-popping surfaces by strategically positioning and embedding discs of wooden end-grain into unique patterns within colored resin, allows our clientele to have one-of-a-kind works of art that can serve as both functional furniture and interior decor. All components of our pieces - from the original design to the manufacturing and assembly of table tops, sculptural modern bases, and tiles - are handmade by Djivan and produced in-house at ABDB Studios in the Palisades of New Jersey. About our Founder: Djivan Schapira is the 24-year old founder of ABDB Designs, and a 2016 graduate of the Architectural Program at Parsons School of Design. The son of an established and highly skilled maker of custom furniture, Djivan moved from France to New York at the age of 6, and has been an apprentice to his father since the age of 10. The last 14 years have allowed Djivan to master the hand skills and artisanal techniques required to produce exquisite furniture far in advance of his years.
