At Above The Obstacle Foundation, we strive together to rise above the obstacles and make a safe community for people from all walks of life.> Over 15 million adults aged 65+ years or older are economically insecure with incomes below 200% of the federal poverty level.> More than half of Black and Hispanic seniors have incomes below the poverty line.> Older workers of color are at most risk for unemployment, and nearly 70% of older workers (50+) are likely to experience one involuntary job loss. At ATO, we are constantly exposed to agonizing statistics endured by the marginalized, low-income, disabled, and senior population in Los Angeles, LA County, Fresno, Florida & Louisiana. We have 2 dedicated programs designed to serve the society: 1. Under the Home Weatherization program, ATO Foundation identifies energy wastage and provides insulated (from extreme weather) housing units for elderly residents, disabled communities, and low-income families and individuals. Under the Transitional Housing service, rooted in its Founder’s horrible story of deceptive law & imprisonment, the ATO Foundation helps mitigate uncertainty and fear by providing recently-released prisoners with a stable and comfortable place to live while they get back on their feet.
