The stats say it all. 1 in 4 Australians say they experience an attack of loneliness while 1 in 10 aged over 15 report lacking social aid. It is far easier to try and deal with the obvious issues of homelessness like providing accommodation or food but the deeper issue of a lack of social connectivity and loneliness requires more attention. Unfortunately, the stats above are further linked to broader issues like mental illness, suicide, lack of sleep, emotional stress, poor immune systems, high blood pressure, premature death, unhealthy behaviours, physical inactivity and a lack of personal hygiene. At Accord Outreach we welcome all of our guests with wide arms and happy smiles.
