A rich broadcast history was born in December 1948 when Action News 5 became the first television station in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. The commitment made in 1948 to serve the Mid-South continues today. Action News 5 is an NBC affiliate. We broadcast more than 40 hours of local news programming each week and are recognized as the Mid-South's news leader. Action News 5's excellence has been recognized by broadcast professionals in the form of awards from the National Association of Broadcasters, the National Association of Black Journalists and the Society of Professional Journalists. The station has also won a number of Emmy Awards for news and special event programming.
