Adaptive Leadership

David Buggie has over 20 years' experience working with and leading teams in large organisations. He has worked and lived in many countries building up a deep appreciation for the cultural dynamics present in organisations. David started his career as an engineer and has worked in power generation and energy management, holding several senior management positions. Since 2012 David has become passionate about working with organisations to achieve their potential and make a positive impact for all stakeholders. He says organisations need not only effective structures systems and processes, but also a culture that enables new ways of looking at problems and the capacity to shift the underlying way of thinking. He advocates that in order to survive and be successful, organisations must develop the capacity to be Adaptive, and that requires a fundamental shift in leadership capabilities. David's work over the last few years has been to partner with senior leadership teams and their organisations to understand t The nature of his work means that David is often in a room or online with a group of people that face a common challenge. He works with the group to understand the underlying assumptions and hidden commitments at play that are holding things back. He has both the experience and training to understand and clearly communicate the ingredients for high performing teams and the conditions for good leadership. Despite this, David maintains that there is no single formula for positive outcomes and his primary role is to enable each group to find its own pathway to success. David draws upon many concepts from dialogue, complexity, action learning, leadership and coaching in the work he does. His style is to be engaging, curious, fun and when needed challenging. At all times David works in service of his client’s needs. After many years overseas leading teams in large multinational organisations, David now lives in Dublin with his wife and two children.
