Adl Capital (Pvt) Ltd (ADL) is engaged in various areas germane to Islamic Banking & Finance (IBF) with “Islamic Finance Advisory”, which includes Product Structuring, as its core activity. In fact, it is recognized as the leading provider of IBF Advisory services in Sri Lanka and has enjoyed this position over the last decade or so. Adl has also ventured overseas, most notably in the Maldives. Other areas of its services on offer include Corporate Finance and Private Equity. In the period since incorporation, ADL has built up a strong portfolio of clients, including several Licensed Commercial Banks, NBFIs, Insurance Companies as well as other corporate entities, based in Sri Lanka as well as overseas. These include institutions such as HNB, NDB, Seylan Bank, LOFC, Peoples Insurance, LB Finance and CDB. Overseas assignments include the Bank of Maldives, which is the premier bank in the Maldives and the Capital Markets Development Authority (CMDA), Maldives, which is the Regulatory Authority for the Capital Markets in the Republic of Maldives. Some of its other notable achievements were, recognition at the 7th SLIBFI Awards ceremony (2018) adjudicated by KPMG, for the successful raising of USD Ten Million from a Middle Eastern entity on a 3-year tenor for LOFC, which was adjudged ‘Deal of the Year’. Its pioneering initiatives in the Capital Markets also include the development of the very first Shariah-complaint Money Market Fund, for which Adl was conferred an Award in 2013. Adl Capital also secured the very first license granted by the SEC to a Market Intermediary for the provision of Margin Trading on a non-interest basis. At an individual level, the Managing Director, Ishrat Rauff, was appointed as the ‘National Consultant’ in the Asian Development Bank sponsored initiative for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka, leading to an enabling mechanism for the listing of Sukuk on the CSE.
