AFII was founded in the year 1996 to provide Project Finance advisory services as also to manage group investments. In 2001 the firm was reorganised to provide Infrastructure and Real Estate financial advisory services. Under the leadership of Dr. Mahesh Gandhi, a co-founder and current CEO of the Group, AFII also developed and managed Structured Trade Finance Products for Public Sector Banks including SBI and SBoP as also advised Infra companies on equity and debt structures besides helping to raise global mezzanine finance for leveraging promoter positions. AFII continues to provide structured trade and project finance solutions to its Clients. As a strong protagonist of Public Public Partnership (PuP) in Infrastructure to reduce the social cost of development in emerging economies, AFII advises some of the leading Public Enterprises in Europe helping them contribute to the purpose of such Infrastructure development in such countries. AFII anchors such global enterprises and supports on ground project incubation that includes pushing the PuP Agenda to local public enterprises and local governments as also to citizen groups. AFII also supports such PuP initiatives with investments, both equity and debt as may be required, for successful implementation and execution, and is also committed to engage itself for ultimate handover of all such projects to the Society. AFII is now in the process of further broad basing its Fund Management Practice that will on one side help it in utilising its knowledge of structured products to enhance returns for its investors, it would also enable the company to harness its capabilities in development of other sectors like Real Estate and SMEs in India, East Europe and Africa.
