Africalia

Africalia fosters the development of the cultural sector and promotes the visibility of African and Afro-descendant artists. Guided by its motto,'Creativity is life', Africalia champions the recognition of art and culture as key drivers of sustainable human development. To bring this vision to life, the organisation collaborates with a wide range of cultural partners across Africa, in Belgium, and beyond. Through multiannual programmes, Africalia supports organisations, networks, artists, entrepreneurs, etc. active across various contemporary art disciplines, ranging from the performing and visual arts to cinema and literature. Africalia's programmes in Africa are aimed at professionalising the cultural and creative industries, strengthening managerial capacities and cultural networks, and advocating for the recognition of culture's transformative power. The organisation is currently active in Burkina Faso, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, and Uganda. In Belgium, Africalia partners with cultural institutions to amplify African and Afro-descendant creative voices within the Belgian cultural network.
