AGATI designs, engineers, and manufactures furniture for public spaces across the USA. For over 40 years, we've been guided by a simple belief: you don't have to sacrifice design for durability. Founded in 1981 by Joe Agati Sr, an award winning product designer, engineer, and sculptor, AGATI began by transforming library furniture. Joe's interest in human behavior led him to research how people interact, how they sit, and where they sit. Bringing an awareness of biophilic principles of prospect and refuge, he developed innovative furniture solutions that balanced comfort with clean design aesthetics. His work earned recognition including the Contract Magazine IBD Award for Furniture Design and a place in the Chicago Historical Society's permanent furniture collection. The Agati Petro Series toured with the History of Chicago Furniture Show to the Cooper Hewitt in New York, and the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. In the 1980's we launched our library division with the completion of the Vespasian Public Library project in Clinton, Illinois. Today, led by Joe S. Agati, we continue that tradition of observation and innovation. We study how people actually use spaces, then design furniture that improves their experience.
