To many people burning timber means to cut down woods, CO2 emission, fume and environmental pollution. Even if it is used to produce heat for households. Because in this case it is definitely the opposite: Timber is a natural and renewable resource. In the burning process the CO2 emission is just as high as CO2 is stored in the timber. This process is the same as the timber would decompose in the woods. It is just faster and makes the stored energy potential usable for us. That is why the Agraligna GmbH pays attention to renewable engergy crops in the form of regrowing woods (short rotation coppice). Based on a mean German household 2500 litres fuel per year are needed for heating. That correspond a CO2 emission of 6500kg. Every household or any other heat consumption which is using timber for heat production reduce the use of fuel and therefore the CO2 emission. Furthermore, they support regional markets like forestry and agriculture, logistic and regional companies. The timber potential of German and European woods are not enough to ensure a sustainable use of our woods. To guarantee a sustainable supply of timber for projects we plant fast growing, domestic tree species. These can be harvest 10x faster than usual tree species grown in the wood. Its particular nature to sprout again after harvesting makes it an easy managing culture. One planting, repeatedly harvesting. And in comparison to other renewable resources e.g Corn there is no need using fertilizer or pesticides. Our whole concept covers the resources cultivation up to heat supply. In further consequence the use of fossil energy sources is reduced as well as CO2 emission. Furthermore it contributes the strengthening of extensive and ecological use of arable land and to reinforce regional markets.
