VENTURE CAPITAL AKEN looks to invest in start up companies at an early stage of their product/service development where proof of concept has taken place. The business model should have KPIs in place with operating momentum at an inflection point. We look for startup companies with relevant background experience in the sectors they are seeking to disrupt, ideally backed by a Venture Capital/Private Equity firm with a solid trackrecord. AKEN will invest in companies in geographies where management is close enough to track the business progress, this include England, the United States and Colombia in sectors that include healthcare, consumer and fintech. CAPITAL MARKETS AKEN seeks to invest in securities, across the capital structure of a company, trading at a deep discount to their intrinsic value. Following a bottom up value strategy with a global focus, AKEN looks to run a concentrated portfolio of 20-30 securities. We are long term investors, expecting to hold our securities for as long as it takes for the market to realize their true value. Ideally, AKEN will find securities with an identifiable catalyst that will help with the realization of value. INCOME AKEN looks to invest in assets that will provide a constant stream of cash flow income over the long term. These assets should provide visible and predictable returns, supported by long term contracts and providing capital preservation. AKEN will buy real estate assets directly or can invest in companies which own productive income assets. Options include infrastructure projects, i.e. build up of energy generating assets secured by long term contracts guaranteeing a minimum return. In such cases, AKEN seeks to hold the assets until maturity of the mandate. ALTERNATIVES AKEN will invest from time to time up to 10% of the fund in alternative products and special situations when the return profile of those assets/products is attractive enough on a risk adjusted basis.
