There’s an invisible enemy every bit as sinister as the current pandemic: It’s the serious health risks of the cumulative effects of ionizing radiation during medical imaging to patients, surgeons, and surgical staff. These effects have been reported to lead to the formation of brain tumors, leukemia, and other cancers which in some cases have resulted in the death of those exposed. Named for the guiding principle of radiation safety, As Low As Reasonably Achievable, we exist to reduce the radiation risk during medical imaging—and save lives. We’re rethinking radiation safety with an integrated family of innovative products that will reduce unnecessary radiation risk—especially among urologists, who are at greater risk due to their proximity to fluoroscopic equipment throughout surgery and their frequent use of it. Our first product is a device for use during PCNLs (endoscopic kidney surgery) and other fluoroscopy procedures that reduces fluoroscopy time by 80.1%. This is a game-changer that will dramatically reduce healthcare costs and save lives. In fact, with nearly PCNLs performed each year worldwide and the number of kidney stone patients continuing to rise, there are untold numbers of physicians, patients, OR personnel, and sales representatives whose lives can be saved.
