Alive Student Volunteer Programme
ALIVE (A Learning Initiative and the Volunteering Experience) was established in September 2003 by the Community Knowledge Initiative (CKI) to enable NUI Galway to become a role model in promoting the development of civic and leadership skills in students. To date, thousands of students have been recognised for their volunteering commitment within a variety of pathways including environmental, international, on-campus, and community and non-governmental organisations, and through participation within societies and clubs, to name but a few. By volunteering through the ALIVE Programme, students have been able to enhance their personal development and employability skills, gain practical experience, have fun, and make friends, all while benefiting the local community. Each year, students are rewarded for their volunteering efforts at the ALIVE Ceremony, in which they receive a certificate from the NUI Galway President.
