It was founded by ex-Egyptian air force aviation engineers when membership was offered only to ex-air force engineers. In 2007 membership was extended to include retired engineers of all armed forces branches of various specialties. ALSAFWA members have grown in number to reach 633 engineers, in aviation and other specialties, who created an outstanding body of expertise in a wide range of disciplines covering almost all fields of engineering within the aviation industry and beyond. ALSAFWA ventures are not limited to only engineering and aviation sectors, it extends also to IT, HR, and specialized training, all of which are made available for its members and the society along with cultural and recreational activities as part of ALSAFWA professional and social responsibilities. Some of ALSAFWA accomplishments are:"Aviation Industry-Time, Speed & Agility Summit" in December 2005, participating in AVEX Conference in SHARM El –Sheikh in March 2006, organizing "Aviation Management & Technology in Egypt" summit in June 2006. In addition, ALSAFWA has organized more than 50 professional, cultural, and social events that included seminars, lectures and discussion groups in the fields of Aviation, Management, Training, culture, and social aspects. ALSAFWA is committed to its mission and is continuing with its activities and services towards attaining its vision.
