Amargi Media is a South African based media content company, started by two South African Journalists, Nikiwe Bikitsha and Charlotte Kilbane. Between us, we have more than 36 years experience in broadcast, print and online journalism. Amargi is the Sumerian word for freedom. The Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia were the first people to write, so they were really the first journalists. Our vision is to tell South African and African stories creatively, with depth, nuance and a fresh perspective. PRODUCTS AND SERVICES We tell stories on radio, television and online which reflect the South African and African reality. Our content embraces high production values, and seeks to reflect the nuance that is often lacking in the South African media. BESPOKE CONTENT Through the creation and production of original bespoke content for media outlets and commercial partners. A lot has been said about brand story telling, and the resurgence of narratives in the building of a brand. The problem is that large corporates don’t necessarily know how to tell their own stories. Often, they will communicate what they know – facts, figures, PE ratios and stock prices. In crafting a reputation in the digital era, brands have to think beyond the obvious. They have to tell human stories in order to connect with human beings. That is where we come in. We are accomplished story tellers, across a variety of media. We know how to frame and create stories that have journalistic integrity, and an emotional touch point. MEDIA TRAINING We offer our services to individuals and corporates who need to engage with the media. We teach them the difference between PR and story telling, and help them master the art of the radio soundbite, and the daunting reality of television interviews. We tailor-make our media training to suit the client in an interactive and supportive environment.
