Amazon Development Center Romania

Opened in 2005, Amazon Development Center in Iasi was Amazon’s first R&D facility in Eastern Europe. Since then, it’s grown into a major business unit which hosts a number of teams including Regulatory Intelligence, Safety and Compliance (RISC) Operations, Global Solutions and Risk Compliance (GSRC), Amazon Creative Services, and Retail Business Services (RBS). In 2022, this center was recognized for its contribution to the regional economic development, receiving the “Biggest Tech Company in Iasi” award, as part of the Best Cities for Business event organized by Forbes. In 2017, a second corporate presence was established in Romania’s capital. The Amazon Development Center in Bucharest is home to ops teams like Speech and Language Solutions for Alexa, Alexa Product Testing, as well as tech teams like Physical Stores, Autonomous Insights Discovery (AID) working on ML-based systems for compliance and safety, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) working on key technologies for the Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) service. Other teams include Ring, Appstore, IT Services, ADECT, EC2 as well as RBS and PSC Tech. The newest Amazon center was launched in Timisoara, the largest business hub in the West of Romania, hosting RISC Operations, GSRC and Ring teams.
