Welcome to the Anacortes School District! Located on beautiful Fidalgo Island, Anacortes is a leader in public education, with a strong vision for teaching and learning. Our strategic plan is anchored by four pillars: Quality Instruction and Curriculum, Partnerships, Social-Emotional Learning, and Stewardship. These pillars guide our work and decisions, ensuring that every student rises to their fullest potential. Our unique school-community partnership resulted in one of the highest school levy ‘yes votes’ in the State of Washington. We’re passionate about fostering a lifelong love of learning and making a difference in our student's lives. We cater to more than 2,500 students, each with diverse thoughts, beliefs, perspectives, and experiences. Our mission is to inspire every student daily through high-quality instruction that fosters creativity, personal growth, character development, and a lifelong passion for learning. Additionally, we employ the 5D framework for teacher evaluation and professional growth. District course design and core instructional materials are regularly reviewed to ensure their ongoing alignment with state law, teaching and learning standards, and research-based best practices. All students will receive high-quality core instruction and, as appropriate, strategic and intensive intervention supports matched to student needs. We are committed to transparent, open, and collaborative partnerships with our students, families, staff, and community. Our schools and district use a variety of communication tools to communicate with our students and families, including the Anacortes Pride Newspaper, press releases, and regular emails.
