Anastomosis Design Lab

Anastomosis can be defined as a process that connects different parts of a system to form a network. Inspired by this phenomenon our studio aims to bridge connections between various forces and disciplines to achieve holistic design solutions. Anastomosis Design Lab comprises of designers and architects who strive to defy the conventional boundaries to explore new ideas through intuitive processes. We pursue design from a trans-disciplinary perspective where different mediums are blended through critical observations and iterations to address complex issues with imaginative speculations. The essence of our studio is based on emergence of forms from contextual ethos to achieve timelessness in the final product. Located in the city of Jeddah, we explore the role of design in defining the upcoming development in the region. In the era of rapid globalization where illusions are fabricated to appeal mostly to the visual sense the authenticity and relevance of design becomes questionable with respect to its context. Does architecture blend into a growing monoculture or does it strive to maintain and celebrate the individuality of the region? Our ideology encourages us to enhance the sense of regional identity and social sustainability in the service of humanism where we wish to collaborate with clients, developers, NGOs or anyone who aspires to pursue the spirit of design.
