Andres Sarda
The history of the Sardà family in the textile industry began with the closing of the 19th century, when the company manufactured lace mantillas of great quality. In the 1960’s Jackie Kennedy wore a SARDA mantilla on a visit to the Vatican. Photographed for the cover of Life Magazine, Jackie gave SARDA its first international exposure. 1962 marks a decisive turn. Born in Barcelona, Andrés, the son of the founder, ventures into lingerie. In the midst of an oppressive political situation, the collections break stereotypes. Designs are made to flatter women while technical innovation creates unprecedented comfort. In 1970, pioneer Andrés presents his first beachwear collection, experimenting with innovative fabrics such as Lycra. He translates the same values from the intimate world of lingerie into the outer sphere of swim and sunbathing. The aim is to make women feel secure and attractive inside out. In 1996 Nuria, the daughter of Andrés Sardà, joins the design team. After a close collaboration with her father, Nuria becomes Creative Director. Today she continues to pursue her father's dream of heightening the spirit of women worldwide.
