Since the beginning of time, toys have been the best way of both educating and entertaining people of any age. However, taking into consideration the vast variety that exists in the market, toys are nowadays considered as mere objects that kids are able to pleasantly spent their time with. But what exactly is a toy? A toy is a complex and multiformed phenomenon that includes different actions, orientations and events. Many scientists, in their attempt to define the meaning, nature and position of toys in children’s life, developed several theories (the following theories refer to the concept of a game rather than a toy): “A game is an activity controlled by the child the meaning of which is more important than its conclusion” (Kostelnik, Soderman & Whiren, 1993) “A game is any activity through which children cover their growth needs” (Maxim, 1989) “A game is the attainment of knowledge through actions” (Feeney, Christensen & Moravcil, 1996) Our vision in “Anemi” is for every parent to consider a toy (by carefully choosing) as the best way of educating his child and for every child to substantially enrich its knowledge with the most pleasant and creative way, by playing!
