Aquanue

Aquanue is a new business determined to become the world’s largest supplier of intensively-farmed live groupers for the Hong Kong-based Live Reef Food Fish trade. Aquanue's business is based on a new, proven, advanced land-based aquaculture technology, SICRA™. SICRA™ is an acronym for ‘Super Intensive Closed Recirculating Aquaculture’ System. It delivers superior growth rates and far lower mortality rates for tropical marine species than existing systems, with higher yields, lower production costs, and minimal environmental impact. This makes it highly efficient and profitable. The Live Reef Food Fish trade, worth US$1bn, is based on Groupers and relies on a dozen of 162 species. Many of these have been proven to thrive in the SICRA™ environment. SICRA™ is 3 x more productive (per square metre) than grouper sea cage aquaculture, with twice the growth rate and one tenth the mortality.
