Arabs Read, LLC is an educational service geared toward teaching English as a second language and basic literacy skills. Direct Instruction is the teaching method that has straightforward explicit instructions when teaching a specific skill. It is very systematic in its approach to help those endeavoring to improve literacy skills. Cosmic Curriculum are readings and stories of the universe, Earth, humans, discoveries, math and language. These readings help learners understand who they are as a part of a greater whole. Give them a vision of the universe and watch how they begin to formulate where they fit in the bigger picture. Curiosity about their purpose and calling begins a discovery of self-actualization. Cognitive strategies are used to engage the mind to solve problems and complete a task. Meta-cognition is practiced to help the student connect to what they already know to the new skill being learned. The brain is a highly organized structure that gets formed and shaped over time. Memory, language, personality, motor skills, spatial abilities and visual perception are impressed into the mind due to experiences. Every time something new is learned a pruning process happens called synapses. This cuts away at the old information and gets ready for new growth and information making us much smarter and adaptable to change. Emotional intelligence, problem solving skills and character development are presented in the 12 rooms of their house. Within each individual there are segments that go from the individual self and expands outward and we reach those places by visiting each room. We understand that individuals are on a journey in life, and each individual has a unique way of seeing the world through different frames of mind, language and culture. The curriculum can help give them the tools to empower them to make the changes necessary and upgrades to grow and move onto the next phase of their lives.
