Argot Publications

Argot Publications Inc is a non-profit publishing entity that runs Argot Magazine and its print editions. Argot Magazine aspires to be a supportive space and foster community through storytelling and discussion. Utilizing a mix of art, creative writing, and cultural and political reporting, we provide a strong platform for the intellectual and creative community. Our mission is to provide a place where talented creatives who don’t have opportunity for publication can be published and be paid fairly for their work. Most magazine-format websites still center on those with relative privilege: outside of mainstream news and magazine publishing, corporate and indie sites alike tend to focus on (white, straight) women or (white, straight) men. The content out there for LGBTQ people and especially women at the margins - disabled women of color, poor trans women - is even more limited. You’ll find our that our contributors come from all over the globe and write about just about every experience one can fathom-from a trans* womens' modeling agency in India, lesbian bars in Cambodia, articles on disability access at Women’s March and longform poetry about weight loss and the male gaze. We primarily publish work from those who live at the intersections of marginalized identities and cultures. Much of this demographic struggles with institutional income inequality. Because of this, giving our contributors a platform and community is only part of our mission; an equally important part is providing paid work for talented people who often have not been able to be published elsewhere.
