Argyll Beaver Centre

Argyll Beaver Centre is a charitable social enterprise based at Bellanoch, Knapdale in Mid Argyll. Our 400-year-old former farmhouse hosts a unique off-grid wildlife information and interpretation centre. Situated in Knapdale Forest, we are within a 550 hectare that includes one of the finest remnants of Scotland's temperate rainforest, and the home of the Scottish Beavers, released here in 2009. They've been eco-engineering ever since and the area now boasts stunning beaver-created wetlands. We run and organise both public and bespoke guided walks, educational and community events and are available for environmental consultancy work. We are currently formulating a mink control strategy to improve conditions for ground-nesting birds and salmonids and with the ultimate aim of returning water-voles to Knapdale.
