ARQ is an award winning consulting engineering firm with a reputation as being a leader in South Africa in our specialist fields of dams & hydro, geotech and bridges. Within dam engineering, ARQ specialises in RCC and arch dams and the company is at the forefront of RCC arch dam technology. ARQ was established in 1993 and has built up a staff of 47 motivated individuals. To date we have worked in over 30 countries on five continents and continue to expand our international activities through our specialist expertise, our application of state-of-the-art technology and our ability to apply innovation to develop project cost savings. ARQ is based in Pretoria, South Africa. Over its 20 years in operation, ARQ has been involved in more than 80 projects involving dams and hydropower; with 33 dams completed, or under construction (the highest being 175m), 11 completed projects involving major rehabilitation, or raising, 24 projects at pre-feasibility and feasibility and 14 dam safety/asset evaluation studies.
