Artful Stars

My name is Julie and I trained as a primary school teacher at St Martin's College, Lancaster, along with studying a BA in Art and Design. I started Artful Stars back in 2014, teaching art lessons around my dining room table, and have successfully run children's art classes ever since. The art activities aim to be challenging and informative. They promote creative knowledge and the children gain skills they can use in the future. All the activities are inspired by the work of different artists, some famous and some not so well known. All artists are great examples of people who think differently, and are therefore good role models for children. Through hands on experimentation and discussion the children become familiar with other artists' styles and techniques. This encourages them to create their own style, and by looking at art critically they gain appreciation for all art in general. By helping them to create their own masterpieces the children gain confidence and come to realise that their art is great too! This confidence then spreads to other areas of their lives, in and out of the classroom. We paint, draw, print, collage, and create 3-D models. Lots of fun!
