Empowering artisans to preserve cultural heritage through ethical craftsmanship.~ In many developing countries, handicrafts are a major sector of the economy, second only to agriculture. In countries with unstable political and economic contexts, craftsmanship is a door to autonomy, dignity, creativity, and a window full of hope, far from the difficulties artisans may encounter every day. To maintain a stable income and support a local creative economy, it is vital for these craftsmen and women to sell outside their borders. Artijaan provides a network, mentorship and visibility to these artisans.
