But scratch the surface just a bit: the day-to-day life of most artists is marked by infrequent highs (awards, press and acclaim) and all-too-frequent lows (creative lulls, loneliness, little-to-no work). In short, the artist’s life is not always wine and roses. It’s during the down times, the vulnerable adjustment times, that you can be unwittingly hijacked by anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, creative blocks, imposter syndrome and more. Being a creative can be mentally and emotionally exhausting. You are not alone. We’ve been there, and we understand.
