ARW is a research-based architectural practice founded in 2016, with offices in Milan, Brescia, and Paris. At the core of our work lies a continuous reflection on the purpose and meaning of architecture, developed through a deep understanding of the specific identity of places. With a team of around 20 professionals, the studio approaches each project as a form of research—an opportunity to translate the challenges of contemporary living into meaningful architectural form, from the urban scale to the detail of the built element. Our work is grounded in a site-specific design philosophy, pursuing an architectural identity that, in the tradition of Italian culture, remains profoundly local while engaging with a global context. We see architecture as a placemaker: it emerges from the relationships established with a given site and expresses, through transformation, a precise spatial idea. The dialogue between this idea and the conditions of the context generates the field of tensions within which the project evolves. The complexity of the inhabited landscape is the primary material of our design process. Geography, local history, environmental conditions, morphological and topographical characters, and the movement of the ground all become generative components, informing the architectural response and shaping each project into a unique synthesis of context, culture, and vision.
