Ashwell Consulting Inc was incorporated in May 2017 and is registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) retaining a valid Permit to Practice (No.P13986). Ashwell provides specialized technical consultancy services in the field of hydrogeology and risk assessment as applied to the assessment and management of contaminated sites. Founded on the principle of using sound science to support pragmatic and holistic interpretation of environmental data for the purpose of understanding and articulating the implications of soil and groundwater contamination; Ashwell provides senior technical support with a risk based perspective to all stages of contaminated sites management from Phase I through to reclamation. Ashwell also supports the development of technical training initiatives and can deliver effective in-house training customized to client’s needs. Louise Burden is the Director and Principal Consultant. With an established reputation as a Contaminant Hydrogeologist and Risk Assessor, Ms Burden has almost 20 years’ experience as an environmental consultant in Canada, Ireland and the UK. She is an expert in the interpretation, application and manipulation of numeric risk based guidelines and risk assessment methodologies for the purpose of assessing and managing contaminated sites to achieve “closure” within context of client objectives. Experienced in regulatory negotiations, provision of technical support to policy makers and public hearings Ms Burden delivers value by advocating for proportionate and sustainable solutions in the management of contaminated sites, which take account of the triple bottom line. A confident and creative public speaker, Ms. Burden has also extensive experience and formal training in the design, delivery and facilitation of technical training courses, including a one day training course on Risk Based Guidelines delivered at ESAA’s Environment Business Symposium in 2015 and 2017.
