astora GmbH, based in Kassel, is part of the SEFE Group and is one of the largest natural gas storage operators in Europe. In expanding its activities on the European natural gas market, the company focuses above all on secure supplies for its customers. astora markets a natural gas storage volume totalling almost six billion cubic metres of natural gas. This means that the company accounts for about 25 percent of the total volume of natural gas storage facilities in Germany. In Rehden in northern Germany, the company has one of the largest natural gas storage facilities in Western Europe - with a volume of around four billion cubic metres of working gas. In addition, the storage company markets around one third of the capacities of Central Europe's second largest storage facility in Haidach, Austria. To secure the supply of natural gas to Europe, astora also operates and markets 5/6 of the capacities of the Jemgum cavern storage facility on the German-Dutch border.
