Athria Edutech Foundation came to be with the realisation of the standard of education in Indian schools. UNESCO declared that the Indian Education system is behind by 50 years for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Some researchers say it could take up to 6 generations for India to achieve world standard education. One of the primary reasons stated is the quality of teaching found in Indian schools, especially Government schools, which is below par. The founders of Athira – Kishor, Sai and Rohith, having been through a similar system of education and decided to play a role in molding the system for the better. Through their experiences in Jed-I, teaching engineering students of all branches and learning under the guidance of Dr. V.Vinay, an Ex- IISc Professor, they’ve learnt the ways of teaching through hands-on activities involving Robotics, Design and Programming. Even after development and successful implementation of Education models around the world, Indian education relies heavily on traditional teaching methods involving rote memorization and similar testing methods. Many top ranking countries in the world have adopted methods that involve teaching through hands-on activities, Application oriented studies and project based learning. These methods all have roots in technology based learning. Athira Edutech Foundation, through the implementation of project based learning and hands-on activities, hopes to bring back the joy in learning. With the use of innovative approaches to teaching, they hope to ignite the spark of curiosity in children and gently chisel them to take form befitting the world standard.
