Audium Theater

Audium is a place of contemplation, a space to immerse oneself in the ever-present world of sound. Audium’s sonic landscape is at once familiar, yet nothing is as it seems. Real becomes larger than itself, the fantastic drifts among the mundane, time and space stretch and contract. The theater becomes a living, breathing, aural organism. Audium is a 176-speaker spatial sound theater, presenting work by local sound artists, musicians and mixed-media artists. Audium’s presentation includes live, in-time control of sound movement, and the use of the entire building as a compositional tool. In the face of a visually-dominated world where attention is being tugged apart, we seek to amplify perceptual awareness in worlds of sound and space. Our mission is to enrich, educate and bring our community together through the presentation of immersive art and the use of space as an artistic tool. After over 50 years of experimentation in live sound movement and sonic immersion, Audium has been recognized the world over as a pioneer of spatial sound art. The first fully-immersive space of its kind, Audium has hosted internationally-acclaimed artists, musicians, and industry experts of all kinds.
