Australian Engineers Declare

The impending climate breakdown and biodiversity loss are the two most serious issues of our time. Australian Engineers Declare movement was established to serve as the progressive voice of engineering. We will: 1. Mobilise of the engineering profession to take more action on climate change, faster. Connect individuals and organisations to facilitate greater collaboration. Communicate the aspiration of many engineers to see stronger action. Encourage the profession to take broader leadership on climate action in the public domain. At the core of Australian Engineers Declare philosophy is the removal or shifting of systemic barriers to engineers, and related professions, leading efforts to mitigate climate change. This is not done through focusing solely on ‘improving’ the products, assets or artefacts that our profession creates. We know that the technology to do these well, with minimal impact on our climate or biodiversity, exists already. Systemic change requires us to go deeper to an approach, mandate and organisational structure that focuses on values, mindsets, beliefs, relationships and agency.
