We are a news organisation which tells the story of African migrants who live and work in South Africa. We cover their struggles, their activities and the challenges they face: exploitation, xenophobia, documentation challenges and their poor working conditions. The story of migrants does not find space in the mainstream South African media. Many publications and television channels in the host country only report on migrants when there has been crime committed by or against them. Their daily struggles, their challenges, needs, triumphs and life in general hardly get any coverage. Some sections of the mainstream media have joined the bandwagon of stereotypes against migrants, while xenophobic treatment, exploitation, harassment and denial of rights has become commonplace and remain unchecked.
