Axis Lab

Axis Lab is a community engagement platform that aims to sustain and build upon the legacy of the Southeast Asian community on Argyle street through the intersection of food, design, and education to incite equitable and inclusive development with its immigrant and refugee community. As an interdisciplinary team working in the fields of education, urban planning, architecture, theater, and visual arts, our aim is to engage local residents, entrepreneurs, cultural producers, and policy makers through innovative programming that draws on cultural and historical knowledge while paving a path for a sustainable future. In its definition axis means the juncture at which different points meet, which embodies the movement of people, ideas, and spaces coming together. Lab, shortened for laboratory, reflects a place of experimentation and different elements converge to create something new. Together, Axis Lab, is a place where new possibilities arise when new and old ideas, cultures, and generations coalesce.
