Ronn Brown has been working in the Visual Effects and Animation industry for almost 20 years. He is mostly known for Matte Painting and Art Direction for Features and Television. Some of his credits include: Ground Battle Matte Painting Supervisor on Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, Senior Matte Artist on The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Matte Painting Department Supervisor on Kung Fu Panda, Art Director on Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant and Senior Matte Painter on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He holds a B.F.A. in Fine Art Photography from the University of Michigan, and has shown his photography and art work throughout the United States and London. In 2002 he was the Vice Chairman of SFSIGGRAPH and is a member of the Visual Effects Society, ASIFA Hollywood and The Animation Guild. Brown also served at the Department Chair of the MFA program in Visual Effects at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He was nominated in 2002 for a VES Award for Best Matte Paintings in a Feature Film for Gangs of New York. In 2009 he moved to South Florida to teach full time in the Visual Effects Department at the Miami International University of Art & Design. He continues to work on features and other projects.
