During the years 1993-1995, construction of the runway number 2 at the Baku airport was accomplished successfully with support of the specialists from German company "WIRTGEN". On May 28, 1995, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan advised to maintain relationships with German specialists. Therefore,"AZVIRT" was established in 1995 as Azerbaijan-Germany Joint Venture. Later the company was renamed "AZVIRT" Limited Liability Company. The company started its business by constructing urban roads in Baku and eventually transformed itself to an international company providing full service for motorway and airport infrastructure projects. As "AzVirt" is growing constantly, it has opened branches in the countries such as Romania, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Latvia, Montenegro, Georgia, Ukraine where it was awarded highway construction projects. In last 10 years road construction works with the length of approximately 400 km has been fulfilled by AzVirt LLC, 4.8 million tons asphalt was paved for construction of asphalt pavement with total area of 8,0 million m2. 81 bridges, 9 tunnels, 21 underpasses and pedestrian passages has been constructed within these projects.
