B&o Trail Association

The B&O Trail Association is an Indiana non-profit organization dedicated to expanding the abandoned B&O Railway from Indianapolis to the Wabash River and transforming it into a safe recreational transportation corridor showcasing community greenspace and improved quality of life for all Hoosiers. The east end of the rail-trail begins in Indianapolis, where it continues through Brownsburg and will extend westward through Indiana to North Salem, Roachdale, Russellville, and Marshall, until it reaches its western terminus at Montezuma, Indiana. Additional line abandonment west of Montezuma could eventually result in the extension of the trail across the Wabash River and into Illinois. Our nonprofit volunteer organizations promote pollution-free transportation alternatives, improve the quality of life, enhance local communities, preserve a passage to our history, and provide opportunities for citizens to enjoy Indiana's natural environment. Originally founded as Rail Corridor Development, Inc.(now B&O Trail Association, Inc.(BOTA), and Hendricks County Trail Development, Inc.(HCTDA), both began their efforts to convert this former transportation line to a rail-trail providing benefits to area communities and residents.
