Baba Yangu Foundation

Baba Yangu Foundation is a registered charity that works mainly in Scotland, with some programs also in the early stages of becoming established within London. In Scotland, more specifically Glasgow, our charity focuses on mental health issues in African and Afro-Caribbean communities. Many of the young people who Baba Yangu works with are second generation immigrants whose parents came to the UK seeking asylum. Our main objective is to eradicate the stigma and isolation associated with mental illness in our own communities while assisting those who need to gain access and treatment options. We provide a supportive forum to discuss and help raise awareness of the mental health issues within our own communities, and facilitate workshops run by professionals to educate young people about mental health and well-being. Many of the people we engage with indicate it is their first time having a safe space dedicated to talking about their mental health.
