Banjerdan

My name is Dan Mazer. Using the stage name "BanjerDan" I'm a banjo player/multi-instrumentalist based near Los Gatos, CA. My music is an Americana mix, rooted in bluegrass and branching out to include folk, country, blues, oldies, and other styles. I started playing Scruggs-style banjo in 1974 and earned a B.A. in Music Theory in 1984 from George Washington University. The banjo has taken me all over the U.S. and overseas, as a solo artist, as a member of bands, and in theatrical productions and orchestras, in venues ranging from street corner busking to bar/coffeehouse gigs, to children's shows, private parties and corporate events, to music festivals, Opryland, USA, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. I've been a member of J.B. Beverley & The Wayward Drifters, The Jackstraws, D.J. & The C.B. Pickers, and Rockcreek. Along the way I've shared the stage and/or sat in with The New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Del McCoury Band, The Yonder Mountain String Band, Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon), Steve Key, and many other artists.
