Bark Like A Cat Films

Bark Like A Cat Films is the production label of filmmaker Tonia Mishiali. Established in 2020, it aims to create daring films led by characters with an attitude. Tonia has been independently making films since 2012. Her work has been awarded the FIPRESCI among others, and received rave reviews internationally. Her film PAUSE was listed as 1 of “20 most daring films of 2019” by Rotten Tomatoes and its script is listed in the core collection of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences M.H. Library. Tonia’s films have been officially selected in prestigious film festivals incl. Locarno, Karlovy Vary, Cairo, Clermont, Cinemed, Pöff, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, and Sydney at which she was selected in "Europe! voices of women in film” as 1 of Europe's 10 most outstanding women directors. They have been released theatrically worldwide and streaming on major platforms incl. HBO Europe and Amazon Prime. Bark Like A Cat Films has produced 2 multi-awarded shorts and is now in development and production of several other short and feature films which received funding from Creative Europe MEDIA, Eurimages, SEE Cinema Network and the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture: CYPRUS SOIL MAFIA (Torino Short Film Market, Euroconnection, winner of 2nd prize for best script at the Screenwriters Guild of Greece Awards), PAINT ME A LIE (Balkan Short Punch, Euroconnection), BOYS OF SUMMER (Midpoint Shorts), SMARAGDA, I GOT THICK SKIN AND I CAN’T JUMP (First Films First, TFL Extended, coco, dot.on.the.map), SHIBBOLETH (MFI, First Films First, Oxbelly, Special Mention at IPDF, Best Pitch post-production award and Cannes Producer’s Network award at Crossroads), NALA AND STELLA (Crossroads), and MAYA (special mention at the Screenwriters Guild of Greece Awards, European Genre Forum, Sources2, MFI, TFL Next, Meetings on the Bridge and post-production award at Sofia meetings). The company is also minority co-producer on two Greek films, THE WOMEN OF 1922 and SEA OF GLASS.
